Make a list of what you CAN do to make a buck with your music. (Not just what you WANT to do !) You might need to sub in a polka band along the way to that dream gig as a six figure clarinet soloist.
Brainstorm the list. Get creative. Once you've exhausted your brain and have the ideas on paper, look at the list and rate the ideas according to the money making potential. $$$ Best Paying
$$ Medium Money
$ Low Bread
Rework the list and group your ideas according to the pay possibilities and delete anything that you just won't do or probably won't work in your geographic area.
This list will get you started and focused on making contacts and using you time wisely. Try to invest most of your time and effort in the $$$ and $$ categories but don't be afraid to check into the $ category. (Some of those might be a networking opportunity.)
